Mark is adept at quickly identifying problems and taking decisive action. As a trusted advisor, Mark has assisted clients in debt restructuring, renegotiation of covenants, squeezing cash by reducing days sales outstanding and increasing inventory turns to better than industry standards. He had directed companies in (1) reducing expenses and risk by employing his extensive network of key service providers, (2) implementing profit improvement plans which include performance based incentives for key employees, and (3) preparing owners for potential buy/sell merger and acquisition activities. Mark provides a value added service of diligently evaluating the infrastructure which supports a business, and if necessary realigning systems, people, and procedures.
Prior to joining B2B CFO, Mark was both the owner of his own advisory firm and a partner in a national CFO professional services firm. His clients have consisted of companies closely held, owned by entrepreneurs, and venture capital private equity. His clients have included a OCTG manufacturer, a women owned, Inc 500 fastest growing private company which provided over 300 oil and gas consultants to major energy companies, and a start-up stored value card transaction processing venture capital backed company.
He has also assisted an 87-year old third generation family-owned commercial tire dealer, a large homebuilder, two engineering firms, and a mobile hydraulic crane and rigging company. Mark gained valuable experience prior to 2002 working in a variety of senior financial executive positions. He served a multi-billion dollar refining and chemical processing company, an entrepreneur owned logistics, freight, and same-day delivery company, and a private equity owned domestic armored car company.
Mark earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting at the University of Georgia, and a Masters of Business Administration with concentration in Finance at the University of Houston. He has also passed the certified public accountancy examination.
Mark and his wife Sarah live with their two daughters in Bellaire. They are active members in their local church where he has previously served as Chairman of the Deacons, Chairman of the Property Committee, and teamed with his wife in providing leadership for the Young Professionals Sunday School class. Sarah is a senior partner in a large nephrology practice and volunteers as a physician and medical director of Casa El Buen Samaritano, a free medical clinic for the Hispanic community. Their daughters attend University of Texas at Austin.
